Effective workouts for women don’t vary too much from what is also effective for men. The only thing that might be different is the goals you may be aiming for. Men are generally looking to pack on muscle and lose flab.

Women on the other hand, generally are looking to tone and tighten, along with losing the flab. So the same exercises men do, will hold true for women as well, just at lower intensities.

Another small difference in work outs that women do, is that women like doing things besides hitting the weight machines. Many of the fitness classes are geared toward women’s preferences, likes and dislikes.

Workouts for women that are popular in big gyms are fitness classes like yoga, and Latin cardio, and high impact fitness classes like Tae bo. Also pilates is a huge hit with women, as well as spinning classes. Many workouts for women tend to include elements of dancing, or martial arts, or things that keep it fun and lively for them.

Another great workout many women seem to enjoy is belly dancing. The moves can be fun, sexy, and keep them focused throughout the entire class trying to learn to perform the moves. The same thing goes for strip tease cardio classes.

It is doubtful that too many men will participate in one of those classes. While men, as a general rule might not take a striptease class, they will most likely enjoy it if their wife comes back home and shows off what they learned!

Workouts for women can also include more masculine pursuits like boot camp style classes for the serious minded fitness buff. Also classes like krav maga and mixed martial arts are available these days, and more and more women are frequenting those as well.

It all depends on the woman and her individual tastes as to what types of workouts she may choose to participate in. But the choices are so eclectic and varied nowadays that workouts for women is somewhat of a misnomer. These days, it’s more like workouts for everyone!
